Joy Unspeakable

Good Morning,

Tomorrow we celebrate Christmas. Despite all the attempts to water down the meaning of Christmas and the trend to substitute the word “holiday”, the true meaning of this day is the coming to earth of our Hope. Our Savior, Prince of Peace, Lamb of God, and Sufficient Sacrifice. Jesus.

In Luke 2 we read these familiar words:

But the angel reassured them (the Shepherds). “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!

The news of Jesus’ birth promised to bring great joy to all people. I love that term, “all people”. There is not a single person on this planet outside the love of God. Not one beyond the reach of his grace-filled arms. None who have made so many mistakes that they been disqualified for the redemption possible because of the baby born on Christmas.

This is not merely good news. It is joyous news beyond the description of mere words. It is hope for today and assurance for tomorrow. We have this hope for the rest of our days and for all eternity because Jesus did not stay a baby. True, he entered the world that way, but he is coming back not as a baby, but as Mighty Warrior, the ruler of the universe. Nothing on earth can stop him and no power of the enemy can hold him down.

No matter what life is presenting you with this morning, remember that God thought so much of you that he sent his precious son to earth as an atoning sacrifice for you. He knew you completely before you were born and gave his life for you anyway (Rom. 5:8).  And if you have put your completely hope in him, nothing can snatch you out of his hand. Nothing!

That is awesome news. That is joyous news – news of unspeakable joy.  Celebrate tomorrow because it truly is a Merry Christmas.

Live this week on purpose,
Ron Klopfenstein
