Sky with Eyes

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. Ps. 121:1

Have you had the experience of someone talking to you, but not looking at you? It is quite annoying.  You might even remember your parents saying something like, “Look at me when I am talking to you”. Not long ago I was sitting outside looking up at the blue Colorado sky. I was talking to God about some things on my heart when it struck me.

God was looking back at me. He was looking me right in the eyes. He was focused on what I was saying, intently listening to me as I spoke to him. He was not distracted by running the universe.  He wasn’t just trying to fit me in to his busy schedule. I was doing more than looking into a big vast sky.  It was as though the sky had eyes and those eyes were fixed on me and what I was saying. There was nothing more important on God’s agenda at that moment. 

We dare not lose sight of the personal, intimate heart of God amidst His ineffable grandeur. As I looked up at the sky that day I realized anew that I am never out of God’s care.  There is nothing that He cannot bring about in me and for me.  He will bring about both what is best for me and is in accordance with His divine will. He looks into our eyes and says, “Trust me, I’ve got you”. Read Psalm 121 below with the realization that the sky does have eyes and they are the eyes of God locked in on you this morning.

He will not allow your foot to slip; your Protector will not slumber.Behold, the Protector of Israel will not slumber or sleep.

The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is the shade on your right hand.The sun will not strike you by day nor the moon by night.

The LORD will guard you from all evil; He will preserve your soul.The LORD will watch over your coming and going, both now and forevermore.
