Unending Declaration

Good Afternoon,Fall is on full display here in Colorado.  The Aspens are quaking and turning a beautiful gold color.  The Elk are bugling, the air is crisp and the sky is a deep blue.  It is astounding.  I am reminded of the verses from Psalm 19: 1-4:

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

There is a ministry of God that we too often miss. A source of knowledge that we too often neglect. And a never-ending proclamation that we too often do not hear. These verses remind us of a core truth in Scripture.  God is at the center of everything and without Him there is nothing. The glory of God is ineffable.  Let’s dig a little deeper.Verse 1 tells us that the heavens declare glory to God.  Not glory to nature, or an impersonal universe.  But to the Creator of nature and the universe.  They serve as an on-going reminder that there is a Master Creator and Designer.Verses 2&3 reveal that not only are the heavens glorious, but that they are proclaiming God’s glory endlessly. Words are not even necessary. The Hebrew text here speaks to a pouring forth; a gushing out that cannot be contained. Every single element of the universe speaks continuously about the knowledge and glory of God.  Beyond that, science and medicine continually discover things that testify to God; They never testify to anything else!Verse 4 instructs us that the message being declared is universal and reaches to the ends of the earth.  We read in Romans 1:20: For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.Go outside this morning and look around you.  Taste, see and bask in the glory of God.  In the midst of His entire creation he sees you, he hears you and he loves you beyond what you can imagine. He knows you by name and considers you His greatest masterpiece.

The glory of God is like the happiest day of your life; it's like every muscle and every tendon and every ligament and every organ and all your mind and your emotions working just the way they were created to work on the day of triumph. The glory of God is the happiest reality in the world.  - John Piper
